about

When asked about his influences and inspirations, Tom Jobim answers:
“Jazz is half of my music”
“Besides jazz, there are influences of classical composers such as Ravel and Debussy… as well as European music in general”
French jazz musician deeply inspired and influenced by Jobim, I wanted to honor his music by emphasizing these classical influences, giving us to understand the richness and depth of Jobim's music in a new light.
This recording is actually a tribute to Jobim's world which has had such an inspiring impact on my life and career as a musician: A world where jazz and classical music meet and enrich one another.

about

Stéphane Spira New York, New York

French-born, New York-based saxophonist Stéphane Spira grew up with jazz the old-school way: in late-night jams and cutting sessions. A protégé of longtime Chet Baker pianist Michel Graillier, Spira's jazz career has taken him from 4 a.m. basement sessions in the underbelly of Paris, through acclaimed collaborations with Stéphane Belmondo and Giovanni Mirabassi, to the New York jazz scene. ... more
